    Water
So... the last two nights my male bp has been spending the nights in his water dish... is this normal? I just adopted him from a friend, took him to the vet and the vet said he was healthy, but I'm not sure what to do about the water dish thing. Should I be worried? should I take his water out? My female never sits in her dish

I would not be worried since it was just checked out by a vet, my first thought would have been mites. Next would be he might be coming up on a shed and they will soak, dont remove his water all together just get a smaller water dish that he will not be able to soak in and problem solved.

What are your temps? If your temps are to high she could be trying to cool off.If your temps are correct then she might be going into a shed or have mites.Do you have a smaller bowl for her one that she cant get into.If she continues then i would keep an eye on her so she does not get scale rot(from being wet all the time).

He didn't have mites when he went to the vet or atleast the vet said he didn't, temps are 90-95 hot 76-80 cold, humidity is a little high though. I don't think he's going into a shed as my friend I adopted him from said he just shed. He only sits in his water in the early hours of the morning..

Granted, snakes will often soak when they have mites, however there are a lot of reasons besides mites for soaking.

Maybe the temps are too high and thats the coolest spot in the cage, maybe he's got a shed coming on and felt itchy so the soaking feels good, maybe he's not feeling very secure and the tightness of the waterbowl makes him feel safer (try putting in a smaller hidebox, they really like to feel enclosed in tight spaces) Maybe he's feeling constipated and needs to take a dump... Lots of snakes like to dump in their water....

A lot of people will automatically assume mites when they see their snake soaking. In my own experience thats never been an issue.

Well... I switched his water dishes to one that is a lot smaller and he's still sitting in it. My friend said even when he was little and for as long as she had him he liked to sit in his water dish. He's 2 feet long and his hides he barely fits in... Whenever he moves when inside them the hides move around as well. The temps on the hot side are normaly 90-95. When I went to the vet he gave my snake some worm stuff oraly and is it possible that my snake is just trying to crap it out?

Did the vet do a fecal? It could be he has internal bugs if he came from a pet store.Keep us posted
