    fennec foxes?
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these, with regards to keeping them as pets? A friend of mine wants one, and I am asking for her; I have no desire to add to my mammalian menangerie myself! Has anyone ever kept these, or known someone who did?

I've read some about them.. I just remember reading that they're quite difficult to litter train or housebreak.. they just kinda pee wherever they happen to be.

They're supposed to be nice animals though, I think they're very cute.

i love there ears....but like shelby said they are pee'ers. ive seen some at a petting zoo, and it was just like a bottle fillin up with water, when it was full it leaked a little.

Another thing.. for them to be really healthy they should be fed a diet of raw meat. They don't adapt too well to the canned stuff.. even the mazuri stuff for wild canids. It's just not as good as real, fresh meat. That's what most of the breeder websites were saying when I was reading about them.

Back in Indiana one of the people I bought hay from had one. Adorable creature. A bit standoffish but nice enough. They did comment on having to keep it in the uncarpeted rooms due to it's unwillingness to be potty trained. They even tried a litter box and though they said they had a little success it was never consistant.

If I'm not mistaken, one may need a USDA permit to keep them. It would be worth researching to be on the safe side. :)
