Woooo! Feisty!
I went to feed my Blood a little while ago and he takes frozen/thawed no problem but on this occasion he showed the usual interest but he wouldn't take the rat.
For the most part my snake is all casual about eating. Sometimes you can just drop the rat right in front of him and he'll gobble it up. Rarely does he snatch and grab. The boy is all smooth about it.
Not this time though.
So I decided I'll heat the dam thing up one more time and try. Never give up I always say, and wouldn't ya know it...the very instant I put that rat back in front of him...WHAM!
That scarred the living hell out of me and it's the second time he's done that. He must do it on purpose, probably thinks he's funny to.
Jesus! :8:

Hey Earl, glad to hear your persistance paid off, haha! Like your guy, my Jelly usually gently slides up to the rat I put in front of him and begins ingesting it. No strike or coil.
I'm feeding Jelly later tonight and wondering if he'll continue to be as gentle seeing he hasn't been offered food for 3 weeks. Should be interesting! :)

You see? That's how they set you up. Don't let them fool you with that "oh I'm just a reptile, all I have are my primal instincts."
They sit in their cave all day long plotting waiting for the humans to show up so they can have their fun.
I can see through their trickery now though. :matrixfig
Like my old Zen master used to tell me...2 wrongs don't make a right but 3 rights will make a left. Yup.

Oh yeah...those infralabial pits are there for a reason!!!
Wait till you get tagged by a big one...they hit like a Mack truck. One of my big Sumatran blacks (who is normally the world's sweetest smoochy face) hits so hard that she managed to bend a pair of 24" hemostats coiling up a rat. They are now unusable.

Haha! That's why Bloods are my favorite, you just never know what will happen from 1 day to the next with them.

You don't say, Earl?! I was just getting used to the very regular gentle feedings these past 4 months. Then just now, after a 3 week fast, Jelly suddenly hit the f/t rat so hard and constricted as if he thought I was going to take it away from him! He made me jump as I didn't expect that! Got to love them bloods!!!
