Does anyone here freeze there bedding? I was reading on a Rat and Mouse forum and everyone say that you should freeze your bedding for 48 hours to kill any Mites or Lice.

    Thanks Richard

I do not. I have aspen I buy from TSC, and I have never had a lice or mite problem. The rat forums swear that carefresh comes with free lice and mites, it's apparently a common problem for them. Maybe they buy from a pet store or something?

I use mainly the pine wood pellets (Equine fresh), and aspen for girls to make a nest in when nursing.

I use a low dust fine pine from a particular store here and have never had any issues with it. I don't freeze rodent bedding and haven't seen any problems in the colony yet.

I wonder this to, im fighting a mite problem right now as we speak and im wondering if i got it from the bedding from the pet store. I currently have my new bedding in the freezer, does this work?

I also heard people bake it in the oven? at what temp and how long?
