Iguanas
is it possable to leave a green iguana in an outside cage? I am going to make an outside cage for her and i want to know if i should take her inside at night. feedback would be great! ps. the area that i live in doesnt snow and the temps never really get lower than 50 at night. and it is about an average of 75 at mid day.

Re: Iguanas
Leaving outside during the day with adequate sunlight is good, but towards the evening, I would bring her in... They need to have 70 & up at night time. Like use a CHE. Now some Iguanas it takes time for them to adjust to outside settings, my old ig, never liked it. He ended up rubbing his nose, raw! It healed, whew thank goodness. I am by no means an expert far from it, but from hearing & reading sites... good luck

Re: Iguanas
BUILD! :D That's what I did for my iggy when I had one. It's really easy, since you're basically building a large crate with hardware cloth sides and top and a solid bottom and back. Just make sure you treat the wood with poly so it's waterproof.
And, it's always good when you can keep an iguana outside most of the year...but not many places will let you do it. :) I was able to, because I lived in Texas. At night, I made sure I had a CHE over her basking spot (which was a special branch with a heat pad wrapped over it covered with astroturf and controlled by a thermostat) and a Night bulb to compensate for cooler nights. Via my digital thermometer, it never dropped below 70.

Re: Iguanas
yeah im building one outside but I need something for the inside. But I done want to spend $1000 or more for a cage. What do I do do for an indoor cage. The only cages that I see that can even fit my iggy for the rest of her life are the cages by design and those are so expensive. What do I do?

Re: Iguanas
I just made my cage with a built on stand that had casters on it. When it was outside, the casters slid into special three sided blocks that stopped movement and were locked. When winter was coming up, I just unlocked them and rolled the cage inside.

Re: Iguanas
here is a picture of the iguana cage my hubby built... he made it to be able to take apart... this is a much older picture, we added more climbing in it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...3/100_0383.jpg

Yes... I will have to find better pictures, actually if you go into my profile, my website., webshots will have more pictures. Under Jade folder. Ummm I will have to ask hubby how much, we bought everything from Home Depot. Plexi glass, wood, of course I cleaned the wood and sealed it. On top used hardware cloth, reptile carpet(we used different)we took 2 pieces of PVC pipes, put carpet around them. I would think it was less than $200 for that cage to be built.

Re: Iguanas
I was able to pick up my igs outside cage for free. Its just a very large bird cage. About half the size of his inside cage but he only stays in it about 3-4 months out of the year and no more than 10 hours
