Is your Iguana a baby? well even if it isn't, this is a wonderful group, lots of knowledgeable people.

If you don't want to join that group, I have all the info you need. I just got another iguana last night. This one is a baby!! My first time with a little tiny one. I have had an 8 yr old, male 5 ft long, and a 3yr old, male 3ft long.

I lost a bearded dragon to adneovirus and that same night I went to a petstore....well was dragged by a friend. I looked at the bearded dragons and just couldn't bring another one home but saw about a 4ft female in a cage that was just to small for her so I asked to hold her and all. Needless to say she came home with me. She is an awesome pet even though everyone thinks im nuts cuz shes free roam. I have a closet(walk in so huge) with branches and everything set up with lights. She walks around as she plzs and even after I feed her her greens mix she'll come out and go to the fridge and scratch meaning she wants more so I let her have more. I have noticed everytime I bathe her she goes to the bathroom and she has on her own climbed in my tub and waited for me to start her bath lol. OF course I keep bleaching the tub after she climbs out. Just make sure u have UVB and heating and give a varried diet and watch out for the nails when they get full grown and tails if u make them mad. To me they are better then having a dog lol.

As long as you have UVA/UVB lighting (or the ability to place their cage outside most of the year), sufficient heat, ample room, and a VARIED diet the little one should be good to go. You can keep them in a tank when they're babies if you must, but they grow fast. I never was one to support free roaming iguanas unless the house is completely iguana-proofed and kept quite warm, but if it works... :)

I built my old iguana a 4x3x2 cage of wood and wire (stunted growth from MBD, she was only 2' or so) with branches and greenery and a 'pool' on the back half that stayed outside most of the year. This was in Texas, tho, I'd never be able to do something like that now.

Yea as of now hes is tiny and has plenty of room in his tank, i have the UVB light and a basking place. For some reason he doesnt like to eat on his own, he will only eat if i had feed him. Is there a reason for this?

This is just my two cents but I think Iguana's should never be sold to anyone without the experience of keeping them or without a permit or something like that.

I think Iguanas are the most expensive, most difficult, and most time consuming reptile on the face of this earth!
I've had two of them and it was a living h***!
They require so many different foods, and heating styles. So much room and different suppliments!

I don't have any tips for you because as you can see all the experience I've had is BAD! If I were to give you a tip it would be to find an experienced keeper for him who has the room, time and money for an Iguana. (FYI - I'm not saying you dont)

Go get yourself another Ball Python! You can thank me later!

You poor guy...having so much trouble with yours. :( I always thought Iguanas were easy compared to Chams...but that's just me.

As for the eating, what do you mean 'unless you feed him'? Are we talking he won't eat unless you put the dish in front of him, or unless you actually hand feed him?

I have to hand feed him. He wont eat from the dish. and even when i try to hand feed him he sometimes get stubborn and i have to like put it in his face for him to open up and eat
