How can I put a door on the side of a tub?

I would like to build a door that I can easily take his water bowl out without moving around his whole cage and everything. Any ideas?

I'm thinking a jigsaw/dremel or something to cut a square in the side of the tub, and then screw wooden frames around the opening and then then adding hinges on one side and latches on the other.

Does anyone have any better ideas or know of a cheaper tool I can use to easily cut a square into the side of a tub?

Hey, If you heat the bin up a little bit. You can use a razor knife, Just becareful and if your a minor. Have someone help you.. Then just get a glue gun and weld the bottom of the square back to the bin. Then you will need some type of latch so your little guy cant Break out!! Good luck..:gj:

I have never tried anything like that, but how about you cut the hole the size you need it, then cut a piece of plastic "door/cover", from a spare bin or lid, that is a 1/2 inch larger all the way around. Then make a "U" shaped piece that can be riveted to around the hole so that the 'door/cover' can be slid in behind the U frame, but on the outside of the hole. This would give you a sliding door without the need of hinges or other hardware. Just a few rivets.

Keep in mind, I am not a graphic artist, but I made this as an example...

You could then use a small knob with velcro attached the sliding cover/door to make a nifty handle.

Awesome! Thanks for the tips JASBALLS and Rick! That is great about using the razor knife to a heated tub. Looks like me, a tub, a box cutter and a box heater have a date with door building destiny. Sweet!

Both of your suggestions made my little project a lot cheaper, considering I have all of the materials readily available and I won't have to drop 50 on a power tool... Thanks!

My only question about this is how are you going to make sure his bowl is always easily accessible to that door? Is it something the snake cannot move because I know my snakes often shift their bowls around. They aren't spilling them generally but they often just move them here or there.
