Rescued a couple new BP's yesterday
I got a call from the humane society here in town yesterday, and went down and picked up a couple of new snakes! Now, I'm not new to snake or reptile husbandry, but I am sort of new at identifying the different morphs. I was just wondering if either of these new snakes are something a little different.

This is Ajax, the smaller of the two. He's 98cm long and 710g. Looks pretty normal to me, but I'm not sure.

This is Goliath, the larger one. It's 127cm long and 1360g. He's a bit different looking, darker than others. I was looking at het red axanthics and hyper-melanistics, and they looked similar.

And this is Bender, I've had him for a while, but here he is anyway. He's 89cm and 680g. Pretty normal too.

    Any opinions or ideas?

I'm not sure on the morph topic, but I'd like to add that they are all very pretty and the third one has a great name :)

    I love Ajax's pattern too.

Cute boys, though it looks like something is hanging out the side of Goliaths mouth in the second photo of him, a thread perhaps? Might want to watch him.

    Congrats :)

Excellent looking boys! I agree that they all look like normals. The only one who could have somthing going on with him is Goliath.
    This may help:

Of course the only way to truly tell if you have a morph is to breed it.

Best of luck. Thanks for adopting them! :D

Thanks, and good eyes. I saw it too, it was just a tiny bit of the coconut husk substrate on the bottom of his jaw. I removed it, no problem.

I checked that site, and the HRA looks similar, but there are differences. I don't know, but I'm not going to worry about it. I may try breeding them sometime in the future, but who knows. I will add that I was using the pronoun "he" just because I tend to name all my snakes as male until proven otherwise. None of these snakes have been sexed, so one or more of them may well be female. I'll find out eventually, but they're all housed separately, of course, so I won't find out naturally!

And I was more than happy to adopt them. They thought Goliath was some other sort of python, for some reason. I don't know what they thought they had. But I could tell they were not happy in their temporary enclosures. Ajax only had one hide, which I think was a hamster house or something, because it was totally clear plastic. He was trying to hide under the newspaper lining the floor. And Goliath didn't even have a hide, just a water bowl and a branch. There was a third there, but I couldn't adopt him because he was "out of their jurisdiction", whatever that is supposed to mean.

What that basically means is that specific snake was siezed from a different county and such the adoptions have to take place in the county from which the snake was originally siezed. I hope that makes sense. lol

Male or female. They are great lookin snakes.
