    Afraid of Crickets?
I have a five month old crestie that seems to be terrified of crickets. I have tried on numerous occasions to feed them to him. Each time he will crawl to the top of the plants in his enclosure and stay there. I have left them in there for a few hours at a time and the same results each time. He will feed on CGD and baby food, but is not growing at a very good rate. Has anyone ever seen this? Is there anything I can do to assist him?

what size crickets are you giving him? they should be no longer than the space between the gecko's eyes. do you know how much he weighs?

you can try dusting the crickets with cgd since he does like that--that way he will smell it on the crickets and may be tempted to try them. have you ever offered him any other insects besides crickets? mine really like phoenix worms.

skip the baby food altogether when feeding--it is full of sugar and not good for them. a diet of cgd mixed with only water is a complete one, with or without crickets or other insects. they do grow faster with the addition of insects in their diet, but as long as they are eating the cgd well they aren't completely necessary.
