Climbing Objects

Seems that slinky likes to climb.. and I would really like to keep him off the thermometer lol, so is there anywhere to get a good *stable* something or other for him to climb on? Ive never seen a piece of wood I would trust.. any suggestions? Or maybe how to secure a piece of wood?

Also.. I know not to use those hot rocks. What about the cables that you can wrap wherever you want? Same concept or are those ok?

Is he always out and climbing? Generally that's a sign that there's something stressing about the enclosure to him and he's looking for a way for escape.

How large is your enclosure and how much cover is provided? What are your temps, and how do you measure them?

No i only ever see him out at night. He likes to sit on my digital thermometer. the ambient temp is 75, warm side is around 90.

You might try to bump the ambient temps a few degrees.

Getting some climbing stuff in there is no guarantee that he won't climb on the thermometer anyhow. He may just like it. :P

That being said...if you want something that you know will be sturdy and won't fall over...why not check the fish department of the pet store...look for some of the big castles or whatever that they have for larger aquariums. Anything with a wide base and a low center of gravity should be perfectly safe. And it'd be visually interesting as well. :)
