sexing in the Philly area?
Hey everybody. I've been lurking around here for a while now learning as much as I could about the care of BPs and all. Once I thought I could handle it, my girlfriend bought me a normal for my birthday a couple weeks ago. So far, so good! Fluffy has had 2 mice for me so far and is doing very well. The tank is great, temps and humidity are pretty good (took A LOT of work, but it's all square now haha).
I guess the only problem is I have no clue if it's a male or female. Anybody know any vets or herp societies in Philly that I can get to that will help me out? Or is there anybody here that can help me out if you're in the area? FLUFFY DESERVES SOME SEX! i mean....a sex... thanks!
p.s. I noticed everybody loves pics so they'll be up in time haha

they don't know how to pop, they have to be shown how to do it first.......................what does feeling the end of the tail do!
Re: sexing in the Philly area?
feel if its rly hard or kind of soft, i did the poping method and i felt the vent and its hard, not as soft as males. not 100 percent reliable feeling for hard but most likely. also if the end of the tail cuts off quickly fron the vent to the end. its a female. longer tale to vent is male.

When it comes to sexing a snake, especially if you're selling it as one gender or the other, you need a method at is pretty much perfect and the skill do accomplish the probe or pop. Tail length from what I've seen isn't a particularily reliable indicator of gender any more than absence/size of spurs is.

Really? Haven't noticed a difference in tail length in my males and females.
