VERY proud of my snake-phobic boyfriend
a while ago, months ago in fact before i ever got my ball, Aspen, i'd posted a thread about how to have people afraid of snakes interact with them. my boyfriend is one of those terrified people and although he still is, i think he deserves some credit. here's the story.

i'm a junior in college, living off campus but i still go home for breaks ( thanksgiving and holiday being the two recent ones ) generally i leave for 5-6 days and return home. ( its a 5 hour drive between ). my boyfriend has been nice enough to not look after the snake not once, but TWICE. and low and behold, aspen was going to shed during this vacation. i have her in a glass tub so i do have to watch the humidity. its fine for about 2-3 days but needs to be misted. he OPENED her tank all by himself and misted her enclosure so she'd have the right humidity for her shed. This is a big deal because he cant even look at snakes on TV. he's that afraid.

needless to say, i return home ( he's at work ) and find a happy, PERFECTLY shed ( eyecaps, tail tip and all ) little aspen and a big poo waiting for me.

so to those of you in a similar situation, there is hope!

That is so wonderful. He's willing to face a deep fear just to take care of your snake for you. He's a keeper! :D

That is very touching :) But watch out.. if he does eventually start liking snakes.. he might want a bunch more! (not that this would be a bad thing..)

Sweet! Definitely keep him around. :)

My BF wasn't exactly scared of snakes when I first got Nagini, but he certainly didn't like them. That was six months ago. Now, I have four snakes and he loves helping me out by holding the corns while I clean their cages. He's still a bit nervous around Nagini, but even that's fading.

I think snakes are just so personable and beautiful that, when exposed to them all the time, even those afraid of them will start to loosen up. :)
