Switching from f/t to live
Does anybody know how likely a 4 year old red albino rat snake would be to switch from f/t to live feeding?
Re: Switching from f/t to live
most of the time the switch from f/t to live is no problem at all it is going back that is usually the problem. is he not eating f/t well enaugh.
Re: Switching from f/t to live
I know that my corn is a bit retarded, and grabs the rat, flops around like a fish and just tries to lay on it to death. He not much of a constrictor :lmao:
But, if your snake has that instinct to constrict, then I dont think it will be a problem. ;)

Re: Switching from f/t to live
Someone has one for adoption locally, and he said it eats f/t. I was kicking around the idea of getting it (the "need more snakes" bug has set in :) ). My bp eats live, so I'd rather stick with that for any of them.
(nobody worry, I will do sufficient research on corn snakes before deciding whether to get it or not)
Re: Switching from f/t to live
I honestly only have limited experience with corns (I have only one and it's the first I have had) but from my own experience, I have never had a problem feeding mine whether it be f/t or live or even switching back and forth depending on what is available. My corn eats just about anything that you put in front of him. Although it would be dependent upon that particular snake, I don't think that it would be a problem switching from f/t to live, my only suggestion would be to treat that situation like you would with a BP. If you get a corn snake, I would still establish it eating for you by continuing for at least a few weeks what it has been eating before you switch. Good luck with whatever you decide. I absolutely love my corn, it is a whole different experience from raising, handling, etc. a BP.
