I've been known to be found upside down while resting so it doesn't sound abnormal to me if you just saw it once. Snakes do weird stuff for no particular reason just like we do. I could be wrong but I dont think theres rattlers in africa where BP's live? My answer is that its nothing abnormal.

Thanks, he was back to acting "normal" a while later. He is still young so i'm sure he's developing his own personality.

My snake sometimes rests dangling from a vine or with his head and tail sticking out of his hide but the rest of his body hidden. He's afraid of water and likes sunbathing (only in the sun whilst handling, and is given the choice to move out of it). He aslo spends the night trying to exit through the air vents on the side of the tank, just turns it around a lot.
He also eats in the most peculiar positions which must make it harder, but he eats well so I don't worry, I guess it is just his personality.
