Climbing

I've heard that some bp's like to climb so I was thinking about adding a climbing branch for my snake. I have a sandblasted branch that I got from the store and some driftwood. My questions are,

Should the items be disinfected/cleaned before adding to my setup?

How can I connect the branch and driftwood together and still be safe for my snake? i.e. hot glue gun, zip ties?

First of all they are more for looks. Balls are ground dwelling and not really designed to properly climb. But those branches can be of great help during a shed.

If you got it from the store then yea I disinfect it. A mix of clorahexidine and water should do the trick.

When I gave her the opportunity, my larger girl used a climbing branch. They aren't *all* only for looks. :/

What about connecting the branches together?

Also, Balls do climb. My BP does it it all the time, especially when I'm pre-scenting the tank with the mouse and he climbs all the way and stretches out as close as possible to where the mouse is on top of the screen.

If you do choose to use branches, and they can and will be used for climbing by some BPs especially younger ones, then you should thoroughly clean with hot water and bake for 30min-1 hour at @ 350 degrees. Make sure the branches are low and thick and lay them on the floor of the enclosure in such a way that they cannot be tipped over or moved much.

You probably shouldn't try connecting them, just lay them out in a way that will be safe for the snake and pleasing to you.

My BP likes to climb. I took her branch out once to put in a larger water bowl and she stayed in her hide for a week. As soon as I returned her branch she came out and climbed on up.
