    yucca plant/root, is it toxic?
does anyone know for a fact if yucca is toxic to reptiles? i would assume no, as they're a common household plant and i remember from botany that they're edible... but ya never know, pine trees are edible too and i'd certainly never put a pine tree in my reptile's cage (unless it was maybe a juniper in a desert cage or something). they're not the most common viv plant so i cant find much info on them but i think they'd be great for my chams.

I wouldn't think so. Should be fine, other than be a BIG plant :)

What can you eat on pine trees other than the buds?

I am absolutely certain that the root is edible, as it is VERY TASTY, but I cannot claim anything other than that.

I know I've seen yucca ingredients in the Mazuri lab blocks, but I can't recall anything else.. I "am" at work, so I'm useless :)

thanks, and what i mean is you can make tea out of a lot of different pine bark and needles and the shoots and buds and pine nuts are all edible. not that i'd want to eat it in a non-survival situation, but...
the reason i ask is because house plants are like 60% off this time of year in michigan at a local store... and i need some new furnishings for my 4'x2' cages. yucca sounds like a good candidate if i can confirm it's non-toxic. ficus are just so boring.

Yucca is very safe, used in spanish cooking alot. Its like a starchy potatoe; I like them with some stewed beef and rice with beans :)
