do you think a jungle carpet python would be a good snake for a 16 year old? I was thinking of getting my little brother one for christmas and I'm not sure which to get and he seems to like them
    what do you think?

I think it depends entirely on the 16 year old in question. Has he kept snakes before? Does he have a history of keeping pets and doing well by them?

Generally speaking, I always think it's a bad idea to give living creatures as birthday- or Christmas-type gifts. Keep in mind, you're not just giving a present....you're also dumping onto the person's shoulders a responsibility and commitment they may not be ready or willing to make.

Has he asked for a jungle carpet in particular? I know that the jungles are semi arboreal and do require quite a bit of space. Does he have the funds to take proper care of the animal? Does he have the room for it? Does he have any experience with larger snakes?

I would think that a 16 year old would not have the finances to take care of an intermediate animal like a carpet. Do you know the parents are ok with a larger animal?

I'm with Judy, why give them responsibilities they may not want or are prepared for? It would be different if he asked for it, and the parents were ok and willing to help with any vet costs in the future, and are totally cool with an extra large enclosure.
Just a few things to think about.

It totally depends on the 16 year old and how responsible he is. Im pretty mature and responsible for 15, and I have 19 snakes. Plus 1 more that I have here on breeding loan from another breeder.

It could be nippy/feisty :rage:. If that is something that could be accepted properly then go for it.

Yes, working through the nippiness might be hard for a 16 year old's patience.
