    Wicked Weather...!
Wow. We are getting pounded right now! Snow and wind and hail rattling against the windows... I have no way of measuring the wind.. but by remembering how it howled in the eaves of the house last time it was windy, I would say maybe 50 mph?! I am literally afraid to go outside.. luckily the horses are in the barn, but they need hay.. I will venture out there of course. But those are going to be the scariest 25-odd feet I walk today!
So who else is suffering the weather now? We have to get to town and get fuel for the tractor/snowplow, and some food, as Mark had to work yesterday and we are not prepared!

We had it all yesterday.....snow then rain then sleet and freezing rain then back to snow. Now the winds are gusting about 35mph and some drifting going on....Other than that...it's gonna be a great day!

Well, we finally got rain yesterday (of course on feeding day, so no pairings yesterday -). It's in the 40's today with windchills in the 30's (and yet Karl will still spend 2 hours washing his SUV today). We'll be back in the 50's this week.

OK - I lied, we're now in the 30's with windchill at 28. Will that stop Karl from washing his SUV? Nooooooooo!!!!

It's 24 degrees here (about 8 with the wind chill factor), snowing like the very devil since yesterday and just basically nasty out there!

On the upside we are all tucked up warm, the tree's sparkling brightly, food's in the house and heck...I have my coffee! It's all good. :)

We're not sure if Mike will get out to work tonight. Our county does snow emergency levels. We're at level 2 right now, if it gets worse and they move it to a level 3 then you are not allowed on the roads unless it's an emergency. They actually do stop and ticket you for driving in level 3 weather and employers are not allowed to make you go to work (unless you are essential services of course).

Yuck, I guess that we are not alone. It is howling out there again; daytime today was pretty-well OK. It was in the late 30's are snowing only lightly, and calm, so we got various outdoor things done. Now it is treacherous out!

I drive about 35 - 40 miles to work each day. The plant is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by cornfields. The snow drifts so bad you had better know how far the telephone poles and mailboxes are from the road so you know if your still on it. I have to gauge the distance between the mailboxes on one side and the poles on the other. Than do the math because the telephone poles are about twice the distance from the road as the mailboxes. The funny part is I work for a plant making heavy duty snow removal equipt., such as salt spreaders and dump bodies.
The road is never cleared when we get off work at midnight. It's also hard to see mailboxes by moonlight. Gets a little hairy at times. At least they keep the employee lot clean.

I hear everything from Michigan to Maine is just getting slammed. Hopefully it will pass over soon.
