aggressiveness

I was wondering if any people out there had aggressive jungle carpet pythons, because mine is very aggressive, and she never calms down

how long have you had her? and what methods have you tried so far?

I've had her for about a two years, since she was a baby
and I handled her a lot and tried leaving her alone for a while but she still strikes and hisses and bites.

she probably will calm down soon if you're persistant... i've found it helps to get them out with a hook and then set them onto your hand/arm once they've grown sizable teeth.

My German lines were nasty when they were babies but settled down into puppies with lots of handling...Believe me - I took bite after bite for months...My Python Petes have always been super calm...Hard to say really...

I have a female jungle that was very aggressive when we got her. In fact, that's WHY we got her. The original owner was tired of getting bitten by her.

We've had her for about 6 months and, with some handling she's calmed down quite a bit. It now takes over 15 minutes before she bites us and she's no longer defecating to get away (let me tell ya, THAT was fun!)

She will still try to bite and you have to be careful getting her out of her cage. I decided when we got her that, if she stayed aggressive, we would do the best we could and after that she could just be a display snake if that is what she wanted.

Sometimes it's how you take it out of its home. Like already mentioned try using a snake hook. It's the best way for getting them out and handleing them. Try lightly rubbing it's head just before conditioning the snake for pickup.

Recently, I had my feisty Carpet around a guy who is HIGHLY experienced with 10's of 1000's of Retics of all shapes, sizes, and attitudes. He tried to pick her out of her rubbermaid for transport and he did it like she was a retic (smart snakes). She tried to bite him, Me smiling.....;) I told him I usually give her a little more time to get what's happening than that and he replied well she's a carpet. I just knew her particulars better than anyone and this is what it might take to bond with your Carpet. She is around 19 months old and only bite a couple times when I first got her as a tiny baby.
