Thermostat Question

I was told I could run 4 or 5 racks on the Helix DBS1000 Proportional Thermostat (I think I got the name right.) My question is, how do I hook up 4 or 5 racks to the one thermostat. Could I use one of those power strips and plug all of them up to the power strip and then plug the power strip up to the thermostat?

Usually when you buy a pre-wired t-stat it's already hooked to a powerstrip. My Herpstat has plugs for 3 racks, and my Johnson T-stats have plugs for 6. You can attach another power strip to it if you need to though, yes.

I think it only has room for two plugs so I guess I could just go out and buy a power strip so I can hook up another rack.

As soon as I get my credit card paid off, I'm going to get myself another rack and that means I'll have room for FOUR more snakes. :D:halohorn:

Yes you can do that, the racks should be the exact same rack. The only issue could be that if something happened to say rack A, like a short that could damage the thermostat it could shut off power to all of the racks not just the one. So it could put alot more snakes in danger.

True but getting a $130 thermostat per rack is a little excessive. Temperatures in my house always stay above 70, so I'm more worried about a power outtage than a thermostat that stops working.

You can hook a Power Strip up to the Helix plug for multiple racks...A Helix will run up to 500 watts of heat tape...

Or you know you could just wire it up so that each rack has just 1 cord coming off of it. Just wire all your flexwatt in parallel.

Then the helix has 3 plugs on it. Plug each cord from each rack into its power strip.

But yeah just keep the power load under 500 watts. The lower the better obviously.
