Questions about feeding amount and tub size
    Hi All,

I've been lurking around these forums for almost a year now. I have a BP that's around a year old. Here are his stats as of today:
    Weight - 409 grams
    Length - 30 inches

    I have a couple questions:

Feeding - I've been giving him 1 adult mouse (defrosted) per week since last March. Based on his size and age, should I start feeding him more? 2 adult mice per feeding? 1 rat per feeding?

Enclosure - I currently have him in what I believe is a 30 gallon aquarium. I have two UTHs, one for cool side, one for warm. I have a Herpstat II thermostat to keep the temps 82F and 92F. After much reading here, I've decided to "upgrade" to a clear plastic storage tub for enclosure. Is my BP large enough to get his full adult sized enclosure? If so, what size storage tub would y'all recommend? (size dimensions & number of quarts)

Also, based on my BP's age of around a year, is he a heathy size (weight/length)?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

409 grams is a little light for a year old male, but also he's been fed relatively light. It may be appropriate to move him to 2 mice a week. Just let him finish his first and offer the second.

Also be prepared that he may be imprinted on mice, and may not switch to rats. And that's fine to be a mouser all his life as well.

Welcome to the forums, and glad you introduced yourself! We hope you'll continue to participate!

Oh I didn't answer you on the tub size. If your weight is accurate, I'd probably recommend a 32 quart tub for now. The largest he'd need is 41 quart. Just go to Walmart and look for a low tub (like 6-7 inches tall) that is 32 quarts, as I don't have measurements on me. But the labels on the ends of the tubs tell you the size. They're relatively inexpensive, so upgrading to the 41 in a year won't be a hardship.
