PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Went to petco last night because my feeder store was out. To my disbelief a MED RAT $6.99
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Sounds like a good reason to breed your own.
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
I know, but I dont think I want to do that right now.
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
I would look on yellowpages.com to check local pet shops. That has helped me a lot.
Try frozen.
Which ever you do, good luck:gj:
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Is it for feeders? I assume they are trying to deter people from buying their "pet rats" as feeders by raising the price.
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
or post where you live or ask people in the chat...you might have a breeder near you. i found one not but 10 miles away from where i live ( coldbloodedaddiction.com ) so i would also try that along with local pet stores...just a hint if they sell reptiles that eat rodents chances are they sell rodents too
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Our local PetCo always sells mediums for that price, Pat. They also don't sell live feeders "officially". I've seen them make people sign a pre-printed statement that the rodents they are buying are not for use as feeders.
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Heh, you're lucky it's only $6.99...at Petsmart the rats are $10. Mostly because they 'refuse' to sell their rodents as food, but also because their live animal prices are insane anyway. :)
Re: PetCo Rasin Prices Again!!!!
Both Petco & Petsmart DO NOT sell any of their live rodents as "feeders", but as "pets". That is why their prices are so high. Also not to mention, they both are retail stores so of course ALL of their prices are going to be jacked way up. They probably buy their rodents for a dollar or two and then turn around and sell them for $6-12.
Look in the yellow pages for ma and pa kind of petstores, ones that aren't retail. You will find that those kind of stores have better prices and do sell rodents as reptile food.

That's actually good advice. When I first moved to South Florida, I was stuck buying feeders at the big box pet stores. On my way home from work one day I stopped at a mom and pop pet shop that specialized in birds and oddly enough they sold live feeders of better quality and cheaper too!
