They just can't lump us together
Having been a member for a few months now, and having bit my tongue a few times, and laughed out loud a lot, I have come to the conclusion that... aside from our "love" of snakes, we have absolutly nothing in common.

We come from all walks of life. Wealthy and poor. Male and female. Old and young. Republican and nice. Smart and well.... I think you get my drift. I'll bet it would be interesting to see if there are in fact more of one type of person here than another.

Sounds like it's time for a poll if you really want to find that stuff out.

Um... isn't everyone different? I mean, isn't that the beauty of life? Being your own person, being who are, experiencing things completely different than everyone else, coming up with your own conclusions, morals, loves, hates... isn't that what it's all about anyway?

Man, life would be so BORING if we were all cookie-cutter.

I wouldnt go so far to say we have nothing in common. I see a bunch of gamers, artists, scientists, readers, writers and all kinds of people here with the same interests. It's a fun place to be! :D

You mean geeks? We're all a bunch of geeks in one way or another!

I'm a self admitted saltwater and snake geek! Wouldn't have it any other way. :nerd:

Sure, if you got us all together in a line, we would definately all look pretty-much different. Moms, engineers, bill collectors.. And sure, we have widely-varying beliefs.. there are Christians, Pagans, Satanists, just to name a few. But we come here b/c we love the snakes and herps. Common ground :)

I think that's likely what keeps BPNet so vital and growing, is the diversity of our membership. Everyone it seems can find someone here whose like them and someone who isn't. Makes for a feeling of comfort but allows for healthy and interesting debate too. :)

It's always very interesting to me that a creature that so many people fear or despise, can also bring together such a diverse group of folks.

I definately agree with your accessment of the individuality of the forum members. However as to the contrast of "Republican and nice" I see that as "those that have learned to think and reason and those that take kneejerk positions on issues" which I suppose adds to the validity of your accessment.
