Getting a Rosy Boa 1 year earlier than expected... NOW!
I talked to someone today who rescued a Rosy Boa last week. It was surrendered after being bought from a pet store (the purchaser only had it a month and complained it wouldn't switch to F/T and "wasn't as interesting at home as it was at the pet store.") She knew I was looking for one, and asked me today if that was still the case. I ran it by my husband; he said yes; now, all I have to do is get back to her with a yes and figure out the housing.

This will be snake #3, so we may upgrade from tanks to a rack or a stacked enclosure (cage) thingie. We'll just have to play with ideas and still try to follow a quarantine.

Meanwhile, I can't wait to get him home! More information to come soon, I'm just wiped out and depressed that the long story I wrote got deleted when my laptop battery died!

    Anyway... WOOHOO!!!

Aww.. that's cool. The poor 'boring' rosy boa got a good deal though. Can't wait to see pics too. :)

Thanks for sharing my excitement! My husband's approval wasn't too hard - he knows I wanted to get a Rosy next year. So in addition to it being "free" and a rescue, it is just a timing thing. Also, I think it is fate. This is weird to say, but I am pretty sure (hopefully, I will be able to tell when I pick him up MONDAY!), that he is the same one I held at the PetCo on October 20th, and again in early November two more times. The first time I held him, my heart starting pounding with excitement. It was love at first handle.

We decided to convert our 10 gal fish tank to a temporary home for our new Rosy (the 4 fish all mysteriously died a few weeks after we got new fish). It means spending less $ money now and getting the snake home sooner.

The nice thing is that if he IS the one I held 3 times already, maybe in some way he will remember me (should I start a thread on that so we can all argue about it?). I hope any recognition he may have helps him settle in. He was incredibly docile and sweet when I held him. But apparently he has struck at his foster mom and one employee at PetCo. I am willing to work with him - forever!

I will post a picture as soon as I can. And thanks for the kind words, Shelby. Coming from you, it means a lot.

    I am so EXCITED!

    Yes, wait is so hard!!

I think I will name him Kismet, since he was offered to me on the last day of Channukah and is the same snake I resisted buying before (I think). Spelling is still open to debate.

    Whaddya think?
