    Skinny Iggy
I got my iguana sometime around march earlier this year cause this guy was selling him out of the back of a pickup truck for 50 bucks. Hes about 4.5 ft now and when I got him he was pretty skinny. I ended up getting him and a couple lights for free. You could see his ribs a little bit but not too bad. he eats as much as he wants everyday, theres usually a small amount of food left in his bowl when i get home from work and if its empty I give him a little more. His diets consists of 40% greens, 40% other vegs, 10% fruit, 10% grains, and he gets some veggie powder sprinkled onto his food about 3-4 days out of the week. This is just a rough estimate, changes from week to week a little bit so he gets a pretty good variety. Anyways hes still just as skinny as he was when I got him. He does look much healthier though, his color has changed pretty dramatically. He was kind of a darker red with some greenish spots and alot of grey around his head. Now most of his body is a brighter orange color and his underside is very bright green and not everyday, but most of the time his head is almost a bright blue. I was wondering if tofu can be given to him for extra protein or is there some type of fruit/veggie that has a higher amount of protein in it?

Have you taken him to the vet and had a fecal done? I know many times internal parasites can stop or slow down weight gain on an animal. I don't know anything about iggies, but what's the size of the enclosure? Lighting source? Do you give him a calcium supplement at all? Just some things to think about.

Oh yea, do you have a photo for experienced people to view?

I dont give him any extra calcium, he gets alot of greens and I understand too much calcium can be bad. His enclosure is 6ft tall, 5ft wide, 3 ft. deep. In the middle is a big "jungle gym" i guess you can call it. 2 4ft ZooMed 10.0s, 50 watt halogen for basking and 250 watt IR light for heat (on a dimmer switch). 80 ambient temps, 95 1 ft under IR light 90 under halogen light. humidity is about 60-65% sometimes 70 right after a good spray down. Havent been to the vet yet but may go soon. Didnt even think about internal parasites. As for the pic Ive never posted one so Im in the process of trying to figure it out. Im at work so it wont be right away but Ill have one up before I leave today

Just from his history (out of the back of a van :O) I would be suspicious of internal parasites. But like I said, I have no clue how meaty iggies should be. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

By grains what do you mean? I didn't think iggys need protien. I can't remember.... Do you have a UV light, I know they need that. I can't figure out what IR means.
