Re: need help
Do not put hemroid cream on or anywhere near your snake. Medicated creams that contain pain-relieving additives are toxic to reptiles.
I would still count myself as a n00b, but I know that much from reading through this site. Somebody with more medical knowledge will hopefully comment soon.
In the mean time, can you describe this illness in more detail - or better yet - can you provide a picture?

Re: need help
thanks. i am unable to post pictures now. when first noticed, it looked like about 1/4" of insides were sticking out. now, (couple hours later) he looks very swollen in the area, but there is nothing protruding. i will try to have pictures by earle morning. thanks.

Re: need help
Do not put hemarhoid cream on it.
If there is tissue protruding from the snake's vent, it needs to be seen by a vet immediately.
If it's just a large piece of stool or urate that is stuck, soaking may help him to pass it. Use lukewarm water that is no deeper than half your snake's width, for an hour or so.

Re: need help
I would have to agree with slartibartfast that I would NOT go near a snake with any human meds. A good soaking won't hurt anything and it may help him pass a large stool thats stuck. As long as you don't see his insides sticking out it sounds like he's just a little constipated:) Is the bump or swelling by his anal scales? More info will narrow it down. and remember to stay calm:)

Sounds like prolapse.
You need to get it to a vet.

I would strongly suggest that you avoid speculation when an animal's safety is in question.
