Omg!!!!!
You won't believe what just happened! hubby just left the door open to the reptile room and the cat came in and knocked over the cricket keeper. i just spent the last 20 min chasing a dozen baby crickets! to make matters worse the carpet is the same color as the crickets! and some how he thought this was funny! i did catch them all with only one causality. just had to vent to people that would probably understand.

Re: Omg!!!!!
You have my sympathy. When I used to keep lizards, and thus bred crickets, I also had 5 cats...one of which thought it was the best fun to knock over enclosures. She took out my daughter's first hamster(got a look-alike before she came home from daycare), my parakeets(cage hanging from ceiling no less), and was always into the crickets, before I learned to put almost everything in heavy tanks or tie cages to stands and tables. I recall one afternoon spent picking hundreds of mealworms out of a beige carpet while fending her off from eating them all... :)

Re: Omg!!!!!
Haha.. I had that happen when I was breeding crickets. Try catching over 100. I was finding dead crickets all over for weeks.

Re: Omg!!!!!
Occasionally I'll have a few escapees when I feed large crickets... 5 min. later, the cats take care of what got loose!
As for the tiny crickets... who knows!?!?!? Eventually shop vaced!?!?
Catching them on carpet would SUX!

Its a smaller room and I heard the keeper hit the side of the table (can't forget that heart stooping CLUNCK) I handed my hubby the sav and ran in there he asked what happened and I said take one f*@$^!% guess! He saw the cat run out and he said "oh". Any way I was able to run in just as they were starting to make their escape. I flipped the cricket keeper back up before they ALL got out. The ones that did get didn't get the chance to spread out yet (they escaped from the small hole that the tub goes in so they were still all in one little pile). First I was able to scoop up about 6 or 7 and the rest got wise and spread out. So I was on my hands and knees pouncing on any thing that jumped lol. I caught about 6 more and I continued to comb the carpet for more but found none. I took my monitor back from hubby and let her down on the floor for a little exercise and she kept waddling over to the closet so I think one might have squeezed in there but I couldn't find it.

Well, I came upstairs after it happened and just had a sort of sinking feeling. I caught maybe 8 then couldn't find any more LOL.. They were chirping everywhere but I couldn't find the darn things.
