Hi I was reading not to use pine chippings for substrate for royals.What do people think of makeing a wooden viv from a pine wooden book case.Is this dangerous to the snakes.

Good question. I am not sure though. Maybe if you seal it first with polyurithane or something along those lines. I believe it's the oils in the chips that are harmful. So yeah, I am not totally sure.

The thing is I seen a bookshelf with 5 shelves.I was thinking I could put slidding glass doors on the shelves to make 5 vivs.The wood I think is mexican pine.It is well dried out.

How do you plan on providing belly heat? The heat wont transfer through the wood and i think its a little dangerous to put it inside so the snake is actually laying on it. When I mande my custom enclosures we put the flexwatt on the wood and then put down thin vinyl... The heat transfers through great and it prevents any pee from getting on the electrical work.

I am putting the heat mats inside on the floor.They will be connected to habistats to control the heat.Thats a good idea to put thin lino over the heat mat.Thanks for all your replies.
