Announcement - Watch for it! Chat
For your visiting pleasure, the staff is excited to announce a new feature being added to our forum - chat. You will notice a window at the top of the forums that allows you to chat with other members of the community.

This chat will always be on. Remember that the same family friendly rules that apply to the forum, apply to chat. If discussions start to become out of hand, staff may ask you to continue your discussion in private or in QT.

Staff also reserves the right to temp ban any member from chat who may get out of line - this will be a purely subjective call from any staff who may be online at the time of the infraction that causes the temp ban. Multiple temp bans of the same user can and will lead to a permanent ban from chat.

As with all new "toys" that we roll out, be mindful that this is a beta test and may or may not become a permanent feature of BP.net.

One other note - this chat is for fun, not for herp related questions, since chat is not searchable. We don't want to lose valuable information that might be shared in chat that can't be searched later - so if you have herp related questions, please keep those questions to the forums. Thanks!

So play around with it (but don't abuse or break it), and have fun! You should see this within the next few hours as a pane above the forums.

OK button - type your post and click "OK" (or just hit enter, which I find easier)

Trash button - if you're typing something and want to delete the whole thing before hitting enter, click that and it will erase what you were typing

Green arrows - refreshes the screen

BB Code - adds font options for you

    Smilie - self explanatory :D

? - give you some code you can use in chat

Black arrow - lets you open chat in a new page

To clarify, chat is not the place for specific questions on your snake's care or health. Forum threads exist that are searchable, as well you're encouraged to start a thread if you have a question that you'd like addressed. You may use chat to announce your thread if you feel that will help bring it quicker attention or draw a specific person's attention to it but the question itself must be in the appropriate forum.

We have addressed the reasons why chat is not to be used as a Q & A format in this thread http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=57293 If you have further concerns or questions about how chat is managed or how to use chat please feel free to post in this thread.

General discussions about snakes, etc. are not a problem. Members that continue to use chat to get their questions answered however will be cautioned about this practise and may lose their chat privileges.
