Kona's Turn for Pictures
Since I posted a thread with pictures of my ball python, Toki, I figured Kona would like his pictures shared, as well. He is my amazing must-stay-as-small-as-possible boa. I guess he hasn't hit his growth spurt, which is good, because he's completely psychotic... He has mellowed out just a little, but he seems stuck in a semi-mellow, semi-psychotic phase. I still work with him alot! I refuse to give up. I will not rest until he at least tolerates me. *determined*
Taken this morning. No in-hand shots to compare size, because I can't control him AND a camera at the same time. No way!!

Him on his first day here...the *only* day I got to hold him *without* gloves.

Also, is there a real reason why he looks so tan in these pictures, but looks more grey in person? Do you think it's just my camera locking in on the brightest color? I'm confused.

Re: Kona's Turn for Pictures
Raven,
Beautiful little boy you have there! Concerning his color, I would imagine it's the camera picking up some light influence---but Kona also looks like he's growing out of those baby silvers, too. He will lose that gray color the older he gets and turn a more tan/brown.
What kind of boa is he? He looks like he might have a little CA mixed in---which might account for some flightiness---but maybe not. Some little boas are just terrified of everything, or they're territorial, bitey, etc. Be aware that some never truly grow out of it... though most should respond to gentle handling with time.
I have a hypo kid that's perfectly gentle outside of his cage... but you don't want to stick your hand in his cage first thing. He coils up and hisses, very plainly stately that this is his area and you need to leave, NOW.
Anyway, I find I have rambled on once again about boa kids, lol. He really is a nice looking boy! :gj: Thanks for sharing!

Re: Kona's Turn for Pictures
Thanks, Lynn!
I got him from a breeder in Colorado. He was her best looking baby, in my humble opinion. He's a Colombian...I don't think he has anything mixed in. :) It definitely appears to be that he's out growing his cute baby grey. He seems more tan with every shed. I think he's going to look really nice when he grows into his adult colors...I just don't know if I want to meet his adult personality, haha!! I've been handling him ever since I got him. He's just a nippy little boy. I'm hoping that he'll eventually get over it.
It's just amazing to me that he's so, well, I'm not sure what it is. It could be that he's territorial. If that is what it is, I just find it really amazing that he's that way. My adult male (whom i got as an adult) wasn't even handle much, and he's a lot more calm and relaxed. He belonged to a guy that used him for "entertainment" by feeding him rats when friends came over. Then he got too big and he gave him back to the woman that sold him to the guy. She didn't hold him much, either. Yet, the first day I seen him, I wanted to hold him and she just picked him up and flopped him over my shoulder to support his weight. He didn't even care he'd just been dug out from his aspen and flopped onto some stranger. That's what's so impressive about Kona's attitude. I find it funny now, because even if he tags my arm (i use gloves), it doesn't feel like much. I don't know what it'll be like if he gets older and nails me, though. I'm a bit scared to find out!
Oh, don't worry! I ramble, too. I love my snakes like kids. My friends hate me for it, I think. I mean, it's just a snake, right? They're not that interesting! ...unless you're the one owned by it. :D

Wow hope he gets over all of that. I picked up my Red tail a couple of months ago and he is easier going than any of my bp.

Holy hell someone else has a boa named Kona. What are the chances. I love Kona coffee.
