    Do you guys place the probe under the substrate or on top of the substrate. I have a good 1 1/12 inches of substrate and i notice a good 5-8 degrees difference between the bottom and top. :confused:

    Hi,

    Well I'm now using newspaper but I would think the best thing to try would be to check it on the bottom of the tank (the hottest place the snake has access to if he burrows you see) and make sure that isn't at too hight a temp - try and aim for around 94-95 tops if possible and then just adjust the depth of the substrate so that it is about 92-94 inside his hot side hide.:)

    That way he has the option to get as hot as he needs to without ever being in danger of getting a burn.

    Does that make sense?
