Heating/Lighting

Well I have a ball python male about 1 maybe 1 1/2 years old. From the Day I got dankman (thats the snakes name) I have used a under tank heater and a red heating lamp above and outside of the cage. I kept the heat lamp on (and the reason i say kept is because I no longer have a red lamp but now just a regular 75watt heating bulb) all day and night. The cage temps are at a constant 90 degrees on the warm side and 80 degrees on the cool side. The reason I am posting this is because Ive read other posts saying people only use the lights at night time. Is it bad for my snakes health for the light to be on all day. He seems very happy, always moving around and I have never had a problem with him eating. Also Im a little worried because sometimes like when i bathe my snake I can hear him breathing. It doesnt really sound like a whistle more like a slight hiss. Does he have RI?

I use to use a lamp but only in the day time. Now after getting advice from people in this forum i ditched the lamp and now just run a heating pad 24/7. Dont use the lamp at night becasue then he confuses night and day..:salute:

you can use a light... just not a white light bulb like you use in a lamp or normal light socket... go with red/black/ or a CHE which gives off no light and your fine bc they can see those.

Im not sure what a CHE light bulb is, the bulb that im using now is a Repti basking spot lamp by zoo med. Is that a CHE bulb?

CHE stands for Ceramic Heating Element so no it doesn't give off any light at all only heat.:)

On a similiar note, maybe someone could help me with a related question. I just got a 4mo old pastel PB today and was given a Sun Glo bulb. Would it be best to use this during the day, and have a Moon Glo at night? Leave it on all the time? Thank you!
