Breeding a young male to death?!?!
When they talk about breeding a young male and overworking him until he dies, how exactly does that happen? For the sake of argument you have a 650 gram male. You put him 3 days with one female, then 3 days with another female. After that you put him in his enclosure, on the first day he eats and you let him rest for 3 days. You repeat this throughout the breeding season, how do you all think this would work out for the male. Thanks in advance for your responses!

I suppose it really depends on the male. Even if you push a healthy animal it could die.

If you're putting a male that size through only two females, and giving him rest in between, and he keeps eating and breeding I'd say you are probably going to be fine.

At 650, while he is still somewhat small, I wouldnt really classify him in the at risk category. More like 400-500 gram guys are ,ore in danger. Some good ideas would be to limit the number of girls, and give him plenty of breaks. I will be breeding a male who is 525-550 grams this year. He is an 06. Im going to be careful, but he is only breeding one female so Im not really worried. If I was, he wouldnt be breeding!!!
