    Thermometers....
I got two acurite (sp) thermometers today and I have a question on how I should position them in the tub? I am still having issues getting temps up in the uninhabited tub.

Ok so basically I should secure the probe to the inside glass just above the UTH. Then set the thermostat at 93 degrees. So the inside of the tank will never really be 93 degrees, I mean that at the top of the substrate will never hit 93... because it heats up the substate? I am so confused. What should the temp at the top of the substrate be? I am also using a heat lamp and have had to enclose the top of the tank to keep temps up. I am just trying to get this thing right.

    Thanks for the help.

I kind of run into the same thing....I have my t-stat set to 94 degrees, but at the top of the substrate it never gets over 92....my cold side however dips to 74 which i am not happy about so i decided to order the ultratherms (like flexwatt tape) from reptile basics...I think they are better than the ones I got at petco.

I don't want to use a heat lamp, so I'm just going to continue tweaking until I am happy.
