    Herpstat fuse replacement?
Has anyone blown a fuse on a Herpstat? If so, how easily is that replaced? I know I'll have to open the case, but beyond that is it pretty simple?

I'm pretty electronically inclined, so if I had it in my possession I'd be able to figure it out on my own I'm sure. I'm working on this for a friend, and want to know what I'm going to need before I get there (2 hour drive each way)...

I had to replace the fuse in my Helix and it was simple.

I don't know if they are designed the same but all I had to do was unscrew the back...pop the old fuse out and pop the new one back in...screw it back on and BAM.

    done.

I did a Google search for 'Herpstat fuse replacement'. You can read the owners manual online. It says it has a resettable fuse that never needs replacement. I dont own a Herpstat myself.

I did the same search... isn't the resettable fuse only on the Herpstat ND?

I also found that apparently, there is an actual glass fuse (5amp) inside, which is soldered in place, and may need to be replaced. If that's the case then I should be able to take care of it... Not sure why someone would solder it in, though, unless they were just trying to make sure nobody but them (or someone experienced with electronics) would be able to replace it...

Mine was a 5 (i think) amp and it was a glass one. I just picked it up at the local hardware store.

Any difficulty replacing it? Just unsolder and resolder, right?

the piece that holds the fuse was the only piece soldered in there. The fuse should...just pop out.

It is kinda clamped in place...but not soldered.

    I...replaced the fuse...it was EASY.
