    Max heat
I am just curious to what the maximum heat a leopard gecko can withstand in general. Since it is a dessert species I figure the max heat would be around 100 degrees F with a target heat of 90 degrees F.

you can have a max of about 92 but in general you want to keep the high around 88 degrees.

What about for the cool side? See my problem is going to be that I want to use a UTH because belly heat is better for them but I also need a light source for viewing. Im affraid that if I use a light then the temperatures will be too high. Unless lots of heat will escape from the open screen top.

the cool side should be around 78 degrees. if you use a fluorescent light for viewing it should not affect the temps--they do not put off much if any heat.

Ok thats cool. I think I could use a light that provides some heat to help keep the cool side temp up. The room temp is 75 right now but its usually slightly lower around 70.

Im going to get a small dome that has a dimmer switch so if the light gets too hot then I can always turn it down some. I think it will work out nicely.
