    According to my cat..
..there must be an escapee in the rat room :(
Or at least a wild mouse or rat. Inky, my domestic shorthair, has been staring at a pile of things in the rat/laundry/utility room. He will suddenly jump up as if to swat something in the pile (there's some parts for Mark's Nissan pickup there, along with a rubbermaid tote full of books I plan on selling on ebay.)
Argh!! I hate this.. now I only hope that nothing chews my washer/dryer's insides up; they are newer. I honestly don't know what could have escaped, as none of my rats were or are missing. I think that it is probably a wild kin of my feeders trying to grab some free grub.

We've caught 3 wild mice inside my house in the past couple days. I think there are still a couple at large. The colder weather is drawing them in. Happens every year here.

yup, it gets cold.. they look for warmer areas ;) watch out, you might get a few hiding in your engine of your car, like cats. i hope there is no damage.

Yeah; I guess that living in a 100+ year old farmhouse will do this to a person :) My cat is camped out in the room staring at the pile of stuff now. Funny, he completely ignores the rats in the tanks that I have, as if they are not even there.
