    b.c. amarali: my first boa!
long story short: i had two pastel ball pythons, one male and one female. after raising the female from a hatchling for 2 years i discovered she was actually a male ( :rage: ). worked out a deal with a friend of mine to trade him for a hatchling female pastel he had just gotten. met friend at a show this past weekend, friend's hatchling also turned out to be male. gaaaah!

so anyhow, they weren't selling at the show i was at so i ended up talking with alan bosch and trading them both for a male bolivian amarali boa. this is my first boa and i'm already in love! i have to say though--he is a squirm worm! how in the world i am supposed to make him sit still for a photo is beyond me, so i only managed to get these rather terrible shots.

his belly is SO pink and a lot of the pink is creeping up his sides.

honestly, i have no idea. i've wanted a boa for a long time, but mainly for a pet. this could be a fun little breeding project though since there might be something to try to prove out but i really have to think about it. i figure i've got some time. :)

Plenty of time! :) Just wondering since you mentioned the stripe.

I think you will be very happy with this little boy... he is going to be absolutely spectacular as an adult.

thanks everyone for the compliments. christie, you are more than welcome to come play at my house any time! :)

he is so different from a ball python it just amazes me. he isn't head shy AT ALL--i would try to put my hand in front of him like i do with my ball pythons to make him pause for a minute and be still but he would just keep right on coming, up over my hand and all over the place. i have some very outgoing bps that aren't shy about anything but he still beats them, hands down. :P

i know when i got my surinam X columbian girl she was soo interested in anything and everything. unlike the balls who curl up in a ball, they are soooo inquisitive
