    Few questions about tubs.
I think I'm going to switch to tubs but I have a few (probably stupid) questions.
    1. Is there any fire hazard attaching a uth or fw directly to the tub (will be on tstat)
    2. How well does a tub keep humidity and heat?
    3. If I use paper towel as my substrate, is it alright to just put the probe between the bottom of the tub and the paper towel?
    4. Are Rubbermaid brand tubs good to use?
    5. (Don't call me stupid) What is the equation of qt. to gal?
    6. Is a tub that isn't as long as the bp however still has alot of floor space (ex. 2L x 2W vs. 3L x 1W) alright?
    7. Is heat tape better then a uth for creating a gradient?

    Thanks, Perry.

    1.Yes
    2.Very well..
3.I would put it under the tub on the heat sorce.
4.Very good, Sterilites are cheaper though.
    5.I'm stupid!
    6.Yes
7.Heat tape is the best period.

    1. I don't think it's anymore fire hazzard if it's attached or just sitting on so lont as it's controlled whith a t-stat.
    3. Agreed. Put it directly on the heat source on the outside and then measure the inside temp with a thermometer with a probe directly above the heat source.
    6. 4 qts = 1 gal
    7. I agree that heat tape is pretty darned good; especially price wise. But there are UTH just as good. I know some people just feel safer using a UTH; which I think is fine so long as you use a high quality one.

Thanks for the answer :) As for question 1 what would be the best way to go about heating then in terms of risk factor? I don't have a rack or anything and don't plan on getting one for a while (going to be using a table) so I was wondering if just uth's (or fw) attached to the bottom would be good.

I think either would be fine. I'd personally use flexwatt because it's dirt cheap next to UTH. And when wired up properly, I believe is just as safe when used with a thermostat.

Alright, and if I use a uth should I use the adhesive directly to the tub or should I put tin foil or something on the adhesive and tape it? (or something else?) Thanks.

The adhesive on the UTH most likely won't stick well to the tubs. It never does for me, anyways... I just leave the backing on them and tape them to the bottom using aluminum duct tape. Don't use the "regular" gray duct tape, get the aluminized stuff.
