    I would say Ball Pythons. Docile, don't get to big, and easy to care for. Then maybe after a year or so-maybe longer dependsing on how much of a 'leap' your going to take in size- then when you feel that you are ready then move on. I plan on getting some differnt kinds of snakes, but BP's in themselves are addicting- so if you get one watch out :)
