How tough is a BP's eye?

Does anybody know how tough a BP's eye is? Is it hard, or soft, or what?

I'm curious and I certainly don't want to touch mine's eye. I remember somebody saying the eye cover was a special scale. I know it sheds.

They do, indeed, have a scale covering their eye. Because they're so close to the ground, this scale protects their eyes from twigs, dirt, water, etc. And yes, it sheds off just like any other scale to be replaced by a new one.

You can touch it... it'll feel just like any other part of the snake's body :)

That's good they have that protection - especially BP's because they have pretty bulgy eyes.

So its not wet, I know that. But you reckon its got about the same strength as the body scales?

It does feel the same... it's exactly the same thing as a body scale, just clear so they can see through it.

I love freaking people out with my contacts :D

No, but I do wear glasses. I have trouble putting eyedrops in so I don't know if I'll ever make the jump to contacts.
