HOuseing more then one crestie
I have read that it is ok to house 2 females together but wanted to make sure it is ok. I have a male right now so from what I read 2 males cant be housed together either though.
Re: HOuseing more then one crestie
you can house two females of approximately the same size together. if they are too different in size one may dominate the other, getting more food, thus growing faster and causing the other to lose weight. males will fight if kept together.

i have two females and a male in my set up
they are all doing fine
i just added the male about two weeks ago
and have had no problems
Re: HOuseing more then one crestie
males and females of the same size and correct breeding size and age can live together fine, you just have to be ready for eggs and babies. :) you will also need to separate them for several months out of the year unless you breed in the spring/summer and cool them enough over the fall/winter that the females stop laying. if you choose the cooling method watch that the females get enough time off and that both regain enough weight for the next season. since they eat less when it is cooler it is crucial that they still eat enough to be in top shape for the spring when it starts to warm up.

Keep an eye on them as they go as well. I had a laying female get very territorial after her first clutch. I had to separate her from the others.
