    Feeding Woes *update*
    update on this here thread:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...t=feeding+woes

On the 28th I offered him up a f/t mouse. He did a defensive strike then clamped right onto it. When I put his hide back in it scared him off and he didn't want anything to do with it again. :(

So, the next night I gave it another shot with a f/t mouse. He gave a few defensive strikes. Then I hid out of his view and offered again...one defensive strike, then a coil and he gobbled it up. It was a puny little mouse, but he ate something and I left him alone till next feed day.

Tonight I offered him a f/t rat. He sniffed, gave a defensive strike, then immediately clamped on. After he strangled it for a few he dropped it. Made a round or two around his tub. He went back, picked up his "kill" and went into his hide to feed.

He's outta the woods! Looks like he might just be a shy eater...but he's eating! Woohoo! :D

Call me crazy, but that part *might* have had something to do with it. Some snakes could care less what's going on around them while they eat, however, most of the time, once the food is in the tub, I've found it better to leave them completely alone until they're cruising around, lookin for more. ;)

That is excellent that he is eating now. I suggest sticking to either mice or rats, since they are imprint feeders and you don't want to mess him up.
