Re: Dividing a 55 gal. tank
I'm curious how you did it, too, b/c we may be doing that at some point.
Re: Dividing a 55 gal. tank
Instead of a aquarium divider I went to a michaels and got a 3/16 inch thick piece of would that measured 12" wide by 24" and then cut the length down to around 19 5/8" and then slid the bottom in place then gently slid the top under the middle brace. It cost me $2.50 alot cheaper than $13.50 for the divider. This works better because they cant see each other and is thicker so they cant knock it down. I will post pics later today when I get home.
Re: Dividing a 55 gal. tank
Okay here is my tank setup with the divider. It is in the middle of the tank.

Let us know how they like it once they settle in. I wonder if smelling each other and not being able to see each other will drive them bonkers!
Nice cheap solution, btw.
Re: Dividing a 55 gal. tank
Now, use some aquarium sealant, which you can purchase at any fish/pet store, and glue it in place..
I did basically the same thing when I first got my BP's, but I used glass instead of wood. Be forewarned, though, that they will eventually outgrow the space of half of a 55g aquarium...

If you use the aquarium glue, can you later remove it and open the tank up so one BP can have the whole space? Or is it permanent?
Re: Dividing a 55 gal. tank
Yes, it's removable. It cuts quite easily with a razor blade.
