    Temp Gun Usage
Watching a bp for a friend (he is about 30 inches - not the friend) Setup is a 20L with one hide and a UTH (no thermostat) dont know what kind. Using a 100 watt bask lamp also (live in Chicago area). Based on stickys put another hide in. Did not realize it was over the UTH. He moved right into that one. Also replaced dial type therm and humidity with digital. Humidity way low. Then got a temp gun and temp under hide is like 100 at one inch. Question is that a good measurement or should it be measured at a larger variant. Thanks

With a 100W lamp you will see temperatures that high. The lamp is also sucking out all of your humidity.

Ditch that lamp, or at least lower the wattage of the bulb to 40-50, and have your friend get a thermostat or at least a rheostat(dimmer) for the UTH pronto. The bulb is why the temps are so high and humidity is so low.
