heat lamp Q

should i put my heat lamp on the same side as my UTH or does it matter??
will my bp get burnt if he puts his face up to the screen where the lamp sits??

You don't need one at all.

You do need something to measure you floor temps to prevent burns.

well me being in oregon, and it being winter season now, it can get pretty cold, and without the lamp my temps are around 65-75, with it 75-85 and he basks under it, so i guess i do need it

Probably. Most heat lamps get ridiculous hot. If it's up high enough then he won't get to it, or else you can prop it up a bit off the wire. I would definitely not keep it in his cage, even if it was covered by mesh wire. And with it out of his cage I would try and take some readings of it to see how hot it's getting. A little $12 ceramic heater to keep your room above 70 would help, this will decrease the need for multiple heat sources. I keep mine 76+ and everything is perfect.

are you using a UTH? this with a thermostat will keep your warm side at 90-92 and the ceramic heater in the room is a good idea because the ambient room temp should be about 80 degrees. You can go to walmart and buy a digital thermometer for about 12 dollars to monitor your hot and cool side along with the humidity of your snakes tank.
