feeding during shed.
ok so ive had my bp since begining of september and he is in his first shed. sunday i went to see if he would eat and just kind of stared at it like he was going to strike but i just dont think he could get any type of visual he wanted to make out the food. So he didnt eat. well my question is should i just wait till next sunday or keep presenting food each day this week. Im thinking of just waiting till next sunday and let him be while shedding. I anyone has any info on this subject then please get back to me. thanks.:rolleye2:

Re: feeding during shed.
Hi,
It all depends on the ball... mine doesn't care- he'd probably eat in the middle of mating!
If he's going to be cranky or finicky during a shed, you've got the right idea letting him be for a week or two. :)
At any rate, it will not hurt him a bit to skip a week, so no worries there. Hope the shed goes well. Have you bumped your humidity at all?

Re: feeding during shed.
oh ya i sure did bump the humidity. its in between 70-75 right now i spray in the morning before work and then when i get home from work. right now i have a :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:ty glass aquarium which i hate and i was actually about to order a rack this week but then had a nice rock hit my windshield and cracked it all the way across so ill have to wait till next week.

mine will eat during shed but he takes longer because he waits until the mouse/rat runs up to him and pries his mouth open and shoves its head in. Ok, Ok, maybe not exactly like that, but he does wait until its right in front of his mouth to strike.
my JCP on the other hand with not eat during shed.

Re: feeding during shed.
Try again next sunday if you offer to soon after a refusal it can stress your BP and only need to more refusal.

Re: feeding during shed.
yea, I've only fed twice during shed and both times it was because I didn't realize they were in-blue when I was buying the feeders.
Usually I just skip that week's feeding. Don't sweat it.

Re: feeding during shed.
We offer everyone on feeding night whether they are in shed or not. Some eat during shed, some sometimes eat during shed, some never bother to eat during shed, but everyone gets a chance to if they want to. Don't keep offering every day. That will just put the snake off most likely. Wait a week or until the shed cycle is complete, that won't bother any normal healthy snake to miss a meal like that.

Re: feeding during shed.
Yep, you just have to learn your snake's habits. My girl eats no matter what. She's in shed now, and was in blue yesterday when I fed her and she nabbed it just as eagerly as always...maybe with the slightest hesitation as she oriented herself. It's all about the individual snake.
