    Designer or mutt(aka mixed breed)
I was just reading a ad in the paper for a Shweenie:O, a Schitzu and a dachsund(spelling sorry). They are asking $200 for a mix-breed dog :rolleyes:.In my opinion this is just NUTS!! Why not rescue a dog from a local pound instead of supporting backyard breeders with these mix-breed dogs.I wonder if i am the only that finds this VERY nutty :omg::weirdface:weirdface .Ok enough of my ranting :P

I think some of these designer morph dogs are for a good reason. The labradoodle is supposed to combine the good family dog temperament with the no-shed no allergy bonuses you get with that weird poodle hair. I think, although I'm not very sure at all, that if you researched labradoodle breeders you'd find that there are ones out there who have been working with the cross for generations and so you aren't getting a dog with a lab sire and poodle dam, but something that is making its way towards being its own breed.

However, I think a very large number of the half this half that dogs out there are just backyard breeders who have no clue what they are doing and just combined 2 popular breeds trying to make a buck. I'd be really suspect of any first generation cross.

The ones that really deserve to exist will eventually be recognized as a breed, but that takes a lot of time.

I'm with you on this Joe....it's a mutt, mixed breed, whatever you want to call it and likely a lovely dog but it's not getting $200 out of me any day soon LOL.

    (test)Shi Tzu(end test)

And yeah...the whole $800 puggle thing gave me the giggles. Now they're turning up on Craigslist, 2 or 3 years old, for free. Guess they didn't live up to their expected perfection...
