Sperm plugs
...How do you check for them? I've heard about them (and even seen pictures of them) but haven't ever seen one in person, and I'm not clear on how one would go about checking for them...do you just go about it the same way you would pop a snake, only looking for the sperm plug rather than hemipenes?

If you pop a snake, they will come out. The Hemipenal casts or "sperm plugs" look white when fresh, and look like a U. I have also explained it as a Flying Nuns hat in another forum.
They are pretty hard to miss.

Ok i passed this comment up 3 times but i have to ask.How would you determine if its "fresh" or not? :P If it comes out of a hemipenis then its a sperm plug fresh or not :rofl:.

That helps a lot. Not that my only male is anywhere near producing sperm plugs, lol, but at least now I know how to look!

Well, when I checked my pastel male yesterday it was obviously fresh, because it was still goo and not a plug.. :-P

some of my adult males squirt their sperm plugs right out at me when i pop them. it's just a soft, whitish yellow thing (usually the end of it is slightly dried up) that comes out of each hemipenis. and then yeah--if you pop them again or pop them a day or two after you got sperm plugs it might just be white liquid.
