Went and saw the space shuttle launch yesturday..
Had to get up crazy early and head over to the coast, the launch was at 11:38am. Was my first one to see in person, and it was amazing. There were two launch pads, we had a perfect view of the one that wasn't used, so we missed the actual lift off, but we still got some awesome pics and sweet video, take a look:

we were 11 miles from the launch pad, only thing between us and it was lots of water, so nothing to block the sound waves. I would of gotten the lift off on video but we were facing the wrong damn launch pad, so we didn't get to see it till it was pretty high in the sky, plus low clouds were in the way. There is another launch in Dec, we are gonna put some research time into that one and find out exactly which pad it will be taking off from and get there with more time to get a better spot. And heres some videos, the first one was taking with my friends Cell Phone and the second was taken with my Video camcorder, at 14 miles above the ground its moving at 2,000 MPH, so it's pretty hard to keep it centered when you zoom in..

The camera on the 2nd video does shake some, I have one of those hand held cameras and its really hard to keep it steady, plus my hands shake pretty bad on their own.

I lived in Florida till I was 12, and I remember when I was younger, my Dad took my siblings and I to NASA to do the tourist thing, then we stayed for the launch (it was in the evening). We weren't RIGHT near the site, either, but we could feel the ground shaking where we were--it was pretty neat!
